Ousha & the Moon
A Persian & Arabian Gulf–inspired Perfume composed after my journey to Dubai. This is a very thick, warm and rich perfume with a tonne of natural materials!
Deep, leather fruity, ten-year-aged Thai agarwood wrapped in crushed vanilla bean, lifted by saffron and cardamom, and veiled with silks of jasmine, rose, and soft orris. Apricot glows at the edges.
COMPOSITION
Top Notes: Cardamom CO₂, Star Anise, Saffron, Apricot Essence (Robertet)
Middle Notes: Jasmine Grandiflorum Absolute (India), Rose Absolute (Bulgaria), "Iralia" a soft, powdery orris material.
Base Notes: Natural Vanilla Bean, Thai Agarwood Oils (aged 10 years)
Ousha bint Khalifa Al Suwaidi (1920–2018) was the UAE’s most celebrated Nabati (vernacular) poet. She began reciting poetry as a teenager and her style bridged classical Arabic influences with Bedouin imagery —desert nights, wisdom, love, longing, and patriotism—making refined poetry feel intimate and local.

I managed my families "Meleg's Orchard," in a small south Ontario town until I was 25. The orchard started with Sam Meleg, a Slovak from the Provence of Vojvodina, former Kingdom of Serbia of the Austro Hungarian Empire. My work ethic, self deprecating humour and stubborn nature is reflective of my Slovak, peasant roots.
Here my cousins are laying crops into the "apple bin." My wooden perfume box is meant to represent apple bins. Be they rose, vetiver or jasmine farmers. Be they from India, Mexico, Canada or Iran - Meleg Perfumes celebrates farmers and artisans of all nations.
